On 18 September 2025, a study day dedicated to aeronautics and space will be held in Toulouse.
The day, organised by the Haute-Garonne department (univ-tlse2.fr - Toulouse), will have the following
title: ‘HISTOIRE ET ARCHÉOLOGIE DES CRASHS AERIENS’.
Below is the detailed programme for the day sent to us by one of the organisers, Jean-Marc Olivier,
professor of contemporary history at the Université Toulouse-Jean Jaurès (Laboratoire Framespa). In

Programme for the day:
- 9:00 am: Welcome reception for participants (Haute-Garonne Departmental Archives, Toulouse).
- 9:30 am: Presentation of the day’s programme (Anne Goulet, Director of AD31, Jean-Marc Olivier, Professor
of Contemporary History, UT2J/Framespa-CNRS), and key challenges in ‘Sciences of the Past’ (Benjamin
Marquebielle/Robin Furestier, key challenge engineers). - 10:15 am.: Under the skies of Flanders: feedback on deronautical archaeology in northern
France in the early 2000s - Yves Roumegoux - Archaeologist and Honorary General Curator
of Heritage. - 11:00 am: ‘Aeronautical archaeology practised by the Aérocherche association’ by Gilles Collaveri,
President of Aérocherche. - 11:30 am: ‘Aviation and aeronautics in Occitania: Key players, contexts and heritage
(1910s-1950s)’ by Clair Juilliet (researcher, FRAMESPA).
12:00: ‘The Nantes accident (1973) and the ambiguities of the Clément Marot plan in the overhaul
of French air traffic control’ by Olivier Pontreau, ENAC lecturer and doctoral student at the FRAMESPA
laboratory.
12:30: Different perspectives: questions and discussion.
13:00-14:30: Break.
2.30 pm: ‘What the analysis of Duralumin parts teaches us about the organisation
of the German aeronautical industry during the Second World War: the case of the Focke-Wulf
and Junkers manufacturers’ by Agathe Duclos (PhD student, CEMES/CIRIMAT).
3:00 pm: Promotion 1: Presentation of the travelling exhibition ‘Memory of the skies: when
archaeology and science shed light on the past’ by Angèle Ménétrier (Head of Collections,
Aeroscopia Museum) and Promotion 2: Presentation of the educational kit by students
on the German aeronautical industry during the Second World War: the case of the manufacturers Focke-Wulf and Junkers” by Agathe Duclos (PhD student, CEMES/CIRIMAT). 3:45 pm: ‘Aeronautics and space archives: the key role of public archive
services’ (Nathalie Regagnon, Deputy Director of AD31/Fabienne Peris-Raimbault, Head of
Aeronautics Archives at AD31).
